After last week’s short discussion on healthy eating for the business person, Charley and Jimmy couldn’t help but discuss being a healthy and happy business. The guys take on all sorts of ideas that can help you improve yourself - which in turn keeps you productive and profitable!
- Exercise – Everyone’s favorite!
- Diet – Everyone’s second favorite!
- Vacations – An actual favorite…
- Creative outlets – Exercising your passions
- Hobbies – Something to take your mind off of everything
You had better believe one of the things the guys are discussing is running. Jimmy was (and actually still is) a competitive runner, while Charley is…well, he’s figuring it out.
It’s an opportunity to rediscover old passions and to restart with a healthier and happier outlook on life.
So, bust out a platter of veggies, your old exercise clothes and a shiny new attitude! It’s time for another episode of Make Marketing Happen.

Hi Guys,
Having just listened to this week’s podcast, I noticed that nearly 25 minutes into a 45 minute podcast, you were still discussing football and other tangents. You joke each week about straying off topic, which is good because it shows you’ve identified the problem. My question is: What are you doing to resolve it? Have you considered creating an outline to keep you on task? Perhaps a strict time-limit. I find it frustrating (as I’m sure other busy attorneys to as well) to listen to a 65 minute podcast, with only about 20 minutes on-topic, and 2-3 minutes of actual, tangible actionable tips/advice.
I hope this is taken in the spirit of well-intended constructive criticism. I think you guys have a nice dynamic, and are enjoyable to listen to. I’d just like to see more focus and more of a plan…and if there’s only 20 minutes of actual content, try cutting the podcast down to 30 minutes.
Cheers!
Hey Dave,
I agree that some of our episodes were entirely too full of tangents.
We both realized that the podcast had taken on a life of its own. We’ve refocused our approach and are aiming to cut down the early-show chatter (in addition to replacing it with marketing exercises rather than sports!). If you are kind enough to continue listening to the show, you will find that we’re keeping episodes in the 45 minute range with a much stricter approach to the business topics.
I honestly do appreciate the feedback and hope that these changes will keep you as a long-time listener.
Let me know your thoughts on more of the upcoming episodes!
Thanks,
Charley
