Top 10 Web Marketers to Follow on Twitter

Twitter is the best way to stay up-to-date on just about everything.  But it’s about so much more than just news.  Twitter is a way to keep up with friends, brands and personalities that can make your own marketing more effective and keep your creative juices flowing.  Here are 10 web marketer resources that you should be following on Twitter:

Matt Cutts @mattcutts: Matt is the head of the web spam team at Google and is constantly publishing information and videos to help web marketers refine their SEO.  Check out his personal blog and the Google Webmaster YouTube Channel where he posts videos regularly.

Search Engine Land @sengineland: One of the best news sites out there for web marketers, Search Engine Land is constantly testing search theories, giving you the latest scoop on Google and Bing, organic search, paid search and more.

Rand Fishkin @randfish: The CEO and Founder of SEOmoz (who provides some awesome free tools like Open Site Explorer) and gave me the idea to write this blog post in his weekly video series!

Vanessa Fox @vanessafox: Architect of Google Webmaster Tools and author of Marketing in the Age of Google, Vanessa Fox knows her stuff.  Follow her not just for the web and tech news but as an example of a Tweeter you can aspire to be like.

Google @google: An obvious choice but the Google tweeters actually do a pretty good job managing this monster account.  Also, check out every Google Twitter account on their blog.

Tony Robbins @tonyrobbins: I know, enough with the search engine stuff.  Tony Robbins is always good for a motivational business quote or a marketing tip.

Chet Holmes @chetholmes: Author of my favorite business book “The Ultimate Sales Machine” and ridiculously smart marketer.  Do you have the pig-headed discipline to follow his advice?  (You’ll understand after you read the book!)

Ashton Kutcher @aplusk: What is he famous for again?  Exactly! Ashton Kutcher has basically built his career on Tweeting and marrying Demi Moore…goals we should all aspire to.  But seriously, this dude understands Twitter.  Follow him just to learn how to Tweet like the best of them.

Twitter @twitter: Not really sure how this happened but the Twitter tweeters aren’t very good at tweeting.  There is a lesson to be learned here: Practice what you preach…and tweet a lot.

Mashable @mashable: You know I had to include them.  The most prolific content writers and curators on the web when it comes to search, social media, marketing and tech.  Everything you need to know about almost everything.

I purposely left myself (@jimmyfosterweb), Tom Foster (@tomfosterweb) and Charley (@charleymann) off the list to make room for others.  Does it even need to be said that we belong on this list?!  If you have other that you think I left off, just leave a comment below.
